Anybody know what body this is? Doesn't match anything listed on DBA.

SteveM. Tue Aug 02, 2022 7:57 am

Hi all...just bought this buggy and want to ID it.

Seller said it was an Apollo Sports Buggy but I dont see that in the DBA, and do not see a match. He only had it a short while and prolly just doesnt know.

I do believe it was manufactured around 1970 and possibly in MI. Can you plz help? Thanks

EDIT: after more searching, appears to be an El Lobo, can you confirm? Thx

I'm looking at this and really don't know about it. I put together its supposed to be a look alike of a Kubelwagen. Owner bought in TX i presume in the 80's and then drove it back here to NY state. From what i'm told it sat in a garage till now got relocated to another garage. owner had passed and brother is selling it to help his sister inlaw.
I still have to go and try and find a vin i thing on rear tunnel. Also going to try and decode engine #. Tried quickly to turn over by hand but no go. Maybe needs a little coaxing to turn free? Body looks good no noticeable repairs or cracks. Anyone know if this was a common kit or?

Is it steel? There was a company in New Mexico making a steel kit. And I think fiberglass ones are out there, too. I would love to cruise around in that thing, I mean, kubel.

Is this an Empi or Burro? I don’t know which, I just know it was my Dad’s who turned wrenches for a living and died in 2009. Lots of amazing childhood memories and as we go to restore it would like to know what it is.

I have done my due diligence and scanned the DBA, as well as all 32 pages of this thread and I can’t match up my buggy with any of the known models. It’s got a pretty distinctive hood, maybe someone has seen this before?

dave grills Mon Aug 14, 2023 11:49 am

picked up this buggy the other day, body looks like a buggy masters off the DBA, but the hood does not match the pic on DBA, looked all over for a maker's tag in the glass and nothing, any help would be appreciated, sorry for the low-quality pics, all I have at the time,

that looks like a gp kubel, made in the uk in the late 70s to 80s, so not sure how many are in the us. I was told that they were developed for the film industry as real kubels were getting valuable by then.

That's not a bad looking one either. Better put a top on it to keep that Washington weather off of you.

New to me. ‘57 frame and ‘73 1600 motor

No serial number tag.

I don’t know any history of this other than original color was yellowish gold metal flake.

This was on the Samba classifieds. Bought it last month and I suspect that it is a Berry Mini T. Just finished tearing it down and found so many issues that it will be a project from the ground up. For instance, the seat belts were attached to the body instead of the frame! Roll bar was held in place with muffler clamps. Built a couple of buggies with Kellison bodies back in the 60's and a homebuilt along the lines of the EMPI Imp.

That looks like an Action Fiberglass T buggy. Berrien Buggy currently makes a similar body style. The Berry Mini-T buggy has a curved lower windshield.

Can anyone ID this body? It was purchased in Lake Havasu by a friend and he imported it to Canada about 15 years ago then did this awesome redo of it.
