If you could take a photo, that'd be great, just so I know I have the wires set up properly and in the right order. Thanks!

Can anyone provide a photo of the order of wires as well as if they should be on top or bottom? There are six wires. I'm pretty sure the brown ones are all in order but the black and green and the black and white ones are the ones causing me issues. Since plugging it all back in, my generator light comes on and my gas gauge won't work. I'm sure it's just a crossed wire. Thanks all for the help in advance. I also have a 1974 Super Beetle.

Side question, I have an extra spring. It's about half an inch long, quarter inch wide. I know it came out of the steering wheel column, but I can't figure out where it goes.

Thanks again!

hmmm..6 wires is interesting. My 74 has 9 wires and it's original

Ordered a bushing for my steering column. Was 12$ for a small piece of plastic and it didn't fit! After further examination, I saw a clip that seemed to be out of place down inside. How do I take the steering column apart further to investigate?

Nevermind, Joel was right. The little plastic bushing was shattered into a million little pieces just sitting down in there. I cleaned it up, inserted the new one, and no more free play. Thanks guys 8)
