hey supa,
he wants to use a 1.8t which has 180 hp stock, easily chipped to over 200 hp on stock turbo! i had this motor in my mk4 jetta with a larger turbo and intercooler i was pushing 350 hp to the wheels!! whats your t4 motor pushing again?
i like this pic because it shows the radiator over the factory cooling intake with draw through fans! this way there is no "hackage holes" in the front for the radiator!

Thanks for that pic Tuk! I wondered if there would be room for a radiator and cfans in that location. I see that with a turbo and carb to avoid a computer; ) |

1.8t vs a NA 2.0 type 4 is apples and oranges dude. From my foray into the tuner world I learned that the 1.8t is a laughing stock, 180bhp from a turbo motor is a bit weaksause, especially since my civic has stock 197 bhp in NA form and I had almost 400 whp when i was boosted.
now how about a 381 hp turbo type 4, its only fair since we are talking about boost :P http://shoptalkforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=...;start=180 |

The 1.8t motor is AWESOME! My friend has one in his Ghia. That head is pure sweetness. 300hp, easy with some tuning and extra boost.
Running EDIS and Mega Squirt.

Megasquirt, friggin kudo's to your friend! Has he looked into having MS direct fire his ignition, it will give him some more cool features like ign cut rev limiter and 2 step launch control. |

Yeah, the motor I want to use has 150 stock HP, think in 2001 they started being 180 HP stock. But I think you guys may be right; I should pick up a less OG notch to do this work on. So I think I may put this one up for sale, message me if you have any interest. If it doesn't sell after a while though, I will just keep it. |

=D> good decision. GIve someone else a chance at this unmolested survivor. Hopefully someone will step up to the plate & make good on it's potential. If not do as you feel, they had their chance(s). |

Yeah I am looking at the one with the front apron that needs to be reinstalled.
Figured somebody may enjoy this one the way it is. But I still do need to find out if the 1.8 turbo would fit. |

I know you really want to run a 1.8t but I measured the dimensions of a k20 and i know that it will fit neatly in the engine bay....197bhp and takes to boost very well ;) |

Haha thanks for the tidbit, but I have only a limited amount of money to spend on this car and I feel a need to keep it all VW ;) |

Yup, my 65 Notch looked almost as bad as Nick's did before I got it. I figured since it was that bad, it would make a good candidate for an IRS conversion. 8)
I'm trying to keep my 64 T-34 stock though. |
