I searched and read thru pages of turn signal issues, but none seemed quite like my problem.

When I signal it blinks kinda fast, but when it cancels the dash indicators stay on. Then if I toggle the stalk on-and-off again the dash indictator might go out. Sometimes I've had to do it a couple times. The actual turn signal (bulb) does not stay on too, just the dash light.

All brake lights work fine. I checked all grounds at the bulb holders.

Any ideas? Thanks

anytime you see a turn signal problem that mentions irregular blinking the first suspect is the flasher relay

Do your idiot lights and fuel gauge work? No power to the idiot lights makes the signal arrows ground through the rest of the bulbs in the idiot light circuit and light up or even cause a fast blink when the signals are off. Since you can make it stop by wiggling the switch that may also be a suspect.
What year is your bus?

'68 bus. All idiot lights work as well as the fuel gauge.

Thanks guys, I'm going to take out the gauge pod and clean up all the connEctions on the 9 pin

Oh..... a 68 :shock: That 9 pin takes troubleshooting the signals to a whole new level of hell. Start by cleaning and tightening the bolt that hods it down, it grounds through that and can act really funny if it's loose and dirty.

i have a new relay coming in the mail. BTW, only EARLY 68's have the 9-pin relay box. mine is a late 68 and has the early bay 4 pin flasher relay. i hope the new relay does the trick. its REALLY annoying driving around with that light on!

well.... put the new relay in with mixed results.

1. now all signals flash at proper speed
2. dash indicator light no longer works with ignition ON
3. dash indicator works ok with hazards only when ignition is OFF

Connect KBL (wire to arrows) to 49a with a piggyback spade connector.
