after a weeks worth of pulling and wiggling and bending the crap out of my crankshaft pulley it finally slid of. i tried the pulley tool, i tried prying it off, tried heating the pulley and cooling the crankshaft, and final result was putting two grade 8 bolts through the pulley wholes and welding two bolts to the pulley and putting all the bolts onto a puller and slowly screwed it off. by far the most intense experience with my bug thus far. i will post a picture of the pulley in few days. just a little story for you all! |

I don't know if this story makes me really want to change my pulley out now (before it gets that bad).
Or if it makes me never want to change my pulley (for fear of going through that ordeal). |

 Initialy at one time decades ago I also used a puller on the crank pully and of course ruined it.
Got wise and used a flat tire iron (something similiar will work) and hit the backside next to the hub close to the crank and worked the pully off. Except for a couple of nicks on the backside the pully came off unscathed. |
