Replaced 28PCI with 30pict1 carb.....
this carb has the elec choke and this was hitting the on the generator mounted regulator
I removed the guts of the choke (not intending on using choke anyway)(and the car is still 6v) so I could mount the carb....
Any more correct way to do this?
Thanks as always...Mike |

 Way back there was a thick gaskt that could be used as a spacer. Not sure if they are still available. A longer stud would also be necessary.
Your probably referring to the 6V reg on the Gen. You could try 4-6 gaskts at the carb base and see how much room there is for the choke to function making sure no chance for a short with the wire.
Looked inside my toolbox and have several gskts.
You might try a parts house for some thick gaskt material and cut your own.

Is it possible to buy a spacer that moves the carb over? Sorry, don't know the correct term for it. My bug has one. You can see it in the pic.

i have the same problem and really havent investigated it too much yet- but it looks like the generator may have been put together off center so the regulator mounting holes are not centered on the top like they should be.
My quick fix was to enlarge the holes on the reg mount so i could mount it a bit more to the right. |
