I need to replace all the foam in the rear seat of my '81, but need some reference pictures, for my seat is pretty well UV-rotted. The foam disintegrates to the lightest of touch. E-mailed Sewfine to see if they made foams, and told me that if I had reference pics, they might be able to help, if not a local upholstery shop.
Or, is this something that could be easily done with the right materials... is it just a flat piece of foam? |

If your seats are vinyl and flat, they still have a complex form on the corners and underneath, nothing impossible to carve out of a piece of foam.
I'm putting back together all the seats after cleaning the covers, and they're kinda weird shape.
I don't have pics of the foam,sorry. |

Mine are covered with corduroy, but since this is the only Vanagon interior I've actually seen (I know, give it to me easy) and the seat is so deteriorated... I have no idea of the shape. And living is nowhere Kansas isn't helping me much since I'm pretty sure I own the only one within 300 miles. The upholstery shops (or any kind of shop) are pretty much little help or no good to me.
If it's any help... it has a carpeted back and folds forward (not completely flat). |
