A 1972 ghia, this is my second ghia.
I owned a 68 last winter, sold it, but miss it so I have been back looking.
Bought it on the classified on here, seems to be an unmolested car, I will be the 3rd owner, the second owner tells me the first owner was an 80 year old woman who babied it and garage kept it, it's a California car.
Might still be listed in classifieds, it's bright green and it says vintage 72 ghia I think. Any suggestions on wheels that would look good on a 72 green car?

That's a nice Ghia! I'm partial to 2 liter wheels myself, but I'm sure you'll get a lot of other suggestions. Good luck with your new baby. Have fun and enjoy it.

Willow Green?
Much more pleasant than the Ravena Green offered later!!

I'd keep the stock wheels and enjoy it!
Looks like a really nice example of a stock Ghia.....enjoy!

Nice car. Looks like you'll have a lot of fun in that with minimal work.

Seconded. Rather than change the wheels, I'd get a set of 0.75" white wall tires to dress it up. After having my '74 cabrio a dozen years on black walls I finally got around to checking that box, and it makes SUCH a big difference in how the car looks! They knew back in the day what made it look good...

Regardless, enjoy your beautiful new find. Embrace the fatness! :D

Thanks all!
I run a small Land Surveying business in Culpeper, Va.
I don't have a lot of free time, so I wanted a Ghia that needs very little to use and enjoy as a daily driver. My main passion are motorcycles, I have a 2008 Harley Fatbob and a 2011 Triumph Speedmaster, I ride them everyday after work in the warm months for stress relief. Now I can do the same with the Ghia in the cold months, I better make sure Ghia's heat is working, lol
Really white walls, sounds good, but there have to be some nice looking wheels for a fat chick!

Very attractive Ghia! Looks like its wheels are the ones from a '72 standard Beetle- 4.5" wide, 34mm ET (German abbreviation for wheel offset EinpressTiefe)- if you remove any hubcap and check on the flat areas between the wheel bolts you should see these small digits stamped in. These wheels have about 3/8" more outward offset than the 4.5" wheels that came on '72 Ghias- and IMO the ones you have look good.

I'd second the genuine Porsche 914 2.0 liter alloys, without the black paint details. Those are 5.5" wide, have 40mm offset which create no clearance issues, and you can fit 185/65 tires F+R for better handling and looks.

A really nice car!
"Gorditas" are not my favorite but being how it is pretty much stock makes up for it. Stock rocks! 3/4 inch white walls are all it needs.
Be sure to post a few pics when you do something to it. Always fun to see the progress or in some cases.... regress.

That's a really nice stock Ghia. Finding one like that is so rare I see no reason to change a thing.

Make sure any little thing that needs attention, gets it. Don't turn it into just another f***ked-up make-over...you'll just devalue it. Respect the fact that it got this far unmolested.

Wow--NICE!

Ditto the suggestion(s) for some proper skinny whitewalls!

Make that Two old men!

Ah... I'd cut the top off that baby and roll it as a roadster. Maybe paint some stripes down the middle and french in the big ol tail lights... HEHEHE...

That's a nice stock rocker. Should be a blast to tool around in.

Are you aware that there are a couple of VW clubs in your area?
