See a lot of people creating topics of their restos on their Bugs and now that I have the stuff to get mine going, I figured I'd start one too.
Here she is when we first brought her home July 2010:

First photo shoot:

Put some new shocks on the back and got my parts list up and going. First thing on the list was getting it painted. Had wife pick out the paint from my work and I mixed it up then made the date to have it sprayed.
Driving to the paint booth:

It was all rust free when I bought it, so just a little glaze putty to even out some side panels and it was ready for spray:

Love the color. Can't wait to see how it looks put together.

Picked it up a few days later and drove it home. Never been more nervous to get into an accident than that day. I know, no tags, but it does have insurance and titled.

About 2 miles after that picture, it broke down on me. I guess I didn't adjust the points quite good enough when I did my tune up before taking it into getting painted. Quick file on the points and it ran fine. Got it back home and started putting some things back on.
Painted my fire extinguisher bracket white

And my dash grill

Got my right side dash grill in and painted, just need to take a picture of it

New side mirror

Painted my rear view mirror white, never seen one any other color than black and couldn't find one already white. Figured what the hell, it only cost me $10 on eBay.

New sun visors

New security system installed. Meet Jack, he loves this Bug

Time to start on the back, and work my way up

New speaker tray, rear seat upholstery, and rear carpet kit.

Need to take pictures of the main carpet kit installed. Sorry for the poor quality on some pics, taken with my cell phone. Next on the list is to reupholster the front seats. Waiting on the door clip seals to come in so I can put the panels on also. Have new arm rests, window cranks, door levers, vent windows, and window scrappers to put in. Those will have to wait though, going out of town this week. Will keep you guys posted with my progress.

Was going to order those when I got the rest of the stuff, but I figured if I ordered them with everything else then that would be less of the other stuff I could get. Now that I have everything, and once I get it on the road, I can tell the wife I got stopped by a cop and warned that it's a law to have bumpers on any vehicle on the road. Which, in SC, it is. In my mind, this plan works out great.

looks like he painted over the beading for all red-which to str8buggin will start to crack and look bad if you did indeed paint over the beading, other than that very well done

Yes, the beading was painted over and NO I'm not happy about it. It won't be replaced with white fender beading either lol, going back with black. I didn't know my wife gave the okay to just paint over it when the question was asked. She didn't know it will crack if it was painted over and I didn't see it until after it was painted. It's whatever though, not hard to replace and this time I can blame something on HER
Thanks for the compliments everyone, I am back in town so I should be able to start back working on it again.

Got the rear door panels, assist straps, and passenger side door weather stripping installed. Pictures coming tomorrow, hopefully.

Looking good!! Taking that beading off may be problematic seeing as to how it was painted. There will be a ridge of paint where the bead met the body and fender lip. The paint may very well tear away when you pull the fender as well.
Proceed VERY carefully, might even consider lightly scoring the paint seal with a razor knife so it breaks clean before removing it.

You might consider just leaving well enough alone and live with it rather than opening Pandora's box.

Hopefully you've got some of the color that you can use to touch up.

Other than that, NICE!!

Dave
