I purchased this brake kit for my 68 fastback swing axle. However, while installing, I encountered a problem. The seal hub doesn't sit flat on top of the caliper bracket. When bolting down the seal hub, it bends a little so that the area where the bolts are is flush, but the middle is slightly bowing out. Anyone who installed this kit have this problem? I'll post a picture very soon.

Also, do you guys know the difference in the kits for the short and long swing axle? My 68 is supposed to be a long axle so that is the kit that I ordered. However when installing, the disc can't be installed with the supplied large spacer. I'm thinking somewhere down the line, it has been changed to a short axle...I'll be contacting CB Performance tomorrow, just thought i'd check here first.

I didn't have any problems with mine accept caliper seals last year. Every thing should mount flush though. The 9/16 spacer is the only difference from long axle to short axle. Sorry I don't have pics of the assembly. You should check every thing for square but it is obvious that something is wrong with the caliper bracket.

I agree with flyinglow, triple check everything is actually flat, wet sand the mating surfaces on a sheet of glass.

I feel like such a dumb ass...I disassembled everything again trying to figure out why the cap was sticking out so much. Well, apparently the spacer that I was using was doubled up. I thought it was just one piece since it was stuck together. When it fell out of the cap after I disassembled the assembly, the spacer fell out and it split apart into two. I really thought it was one single spacer. lol. Now to do the other side. I think if I had just went to the other side I would've found that I was missing that spacer!

All is well now. Lesson learned, check all parts to see if it is a single part or stuck together.

One question. Do I have to use some sort of gasket sealer on the paper gasket before installing?

I do, gasisince(sp) or that sort.
