Hello-

Quote: Anyone have any experience with selecting ventures for a 1500cc engine with two dual carbs?

Try calling Bieker Engineering or 356 Carburetor Rescue ( and use the phase "I need to purchase some jets"). I've never worked with Bieker, but Candace at 356 is very responsive and knowledgable.

As cool as your carbs look, a set of Zenith 32NDIX carbs jetted for a 356 normal would probably be a better fit for your application.

Cheers,

Paul

I did think off using Zeniths at one time. Maybe the next engine I build will have Zeniths. Here is a close up of the Solex P40-11 with the high manifolds. The high manifolds should help give the engine good low end.

It's almost a shame to put that little jewel in an engine compartment. That is one of the nicest looking engines I've ever seen. Nice work!!!!!!

I love the look of the early 50s Porsche 4-Cam Carrera motors. From these photos I got the idea of painting all the tin ware silver to give the 1500cc Okrasa motor a vintage racing look. I can't wait to see what it looks like in my black 57 oval.

Hello-

If you like that 4-Cam look, there's nothing like a set of Carrera style velocity stacks.

If the deck lid does not fit with the original solex wire air filters, then Carrera style velocity stack migh work. Where do I find a source for these?

Hello-

Karmann Konnection sells a set of repros for ~ 300 USD.

NLA Parts also sells a repro. The price is higher (375), but you don't have to deal with over seas shipping, and they're already CAD plated. http://www.nlaparts.com/store/solex-racing-velocity-stacks-p-2772.html

They also pop up for sale from time to time here, on the 356 Registry, and the Pelican Parts forum.

Vintage Oval,
Any updates on this build? This really is one of my favorite motors that I have seen in awhile. Well done. Very nice  Would love to hear it roar. What is it going into?

I am getting ready to start up a newly built 1500cc Okrasa 35hp motor for the first time. I am trying to figure out the proper jetting for it. I live in the mile high city of Denver and have to compensate for lack of air. I am wanting more of the low end than the high end RPM. This is not a racing motor, it would be a daily driver. Any help me help me with jetting would be very appreciated.
Here are the motor stats.
Engine 1500cc Okrasa
Bore 80mm
Stroke 74mm
Cam .322” Stock which is .220”
Valves 35mm intake
32mm Exhaust
Compression 8:1

Solex P40-11 ( with the following jetting )
Ventura 24mm ( Custom made and can be made larger if needed )
Main Jet 115
Idle Jet 57.5
Air Correction Jet 180

Have you thought about renting a wide band air/fuel meter to help speed up the jetting process?

Paul
