EMPIImp69 started a thread a few years back titled "My big fat slots" about running slot rims on buggy's. Some fantastic pictures in that thread.

MURZI brought up the fact of age and wheel style. Got me second guessing myself again and what rim to run on my buggy project. My favorite two rims styles are the 70's Slot Rims and the late 70's - early 80's Centerline rims. I have a small collection of both Slot Rims and Centerline Rims, but need to make my decission on which to run before purchasing the disc brakes (4 lug versus 5 lug pattern).

I run the fake cast Centerline rims on my '59 Single Cab and have a set of Centerline rims on a project street baja, but have never run them on a buggy.

Post up pictures of some buggy's running Centerline rims. Big, wide, skinny, thin, polished, non-polished, fake, real, 4 lug, 5 lug, whatever you have/seen.

Here are one set of fake ones on my single cab when I brought home the "starter" shortened buggy pan a couple months ago.

I too am a centerline wheel guy. I have had them on almost every car I have owned, and if I cant find what I need to fit then I get something close like a douglas wheel. Go for the centerlines if you have them.

Centerlines do it for me......but damn they have gotten expensive. When I built my buggy I paid like 160ish a piece brand new (2005). Now they are about twice that.

On my baja I wanted centerlines as well, but instead stumbled across a deal with rims and tires for weld wheels(Chevy pattern)......but after changing drums, tires, buying center caps, etc I wish I would have just bought the centerlines. For me wheels make the car, and if I keep the baja I am gonna have me some Centerlines!!!

These are polished Centerlines I bought back in 2001 when I was building the buggy.

Great timing...I just last weekend scored what I hope to be the final piece of my search for the perfect set of wheels for a manx-type buggy I picked up a couple of years ago with white spokes all the way around. I want a street look and I too have gone back and forth between slots and centerlines. Like many others, I think I have ended up with 5 complete sets of wheels during this search. I don't have pics yet, but I'm going with 15x3.5 in the front and 15x8.5 in the back. I have an extra pair of 3.5 and a pair of 5.5 that I plan to sell at some point - all true two piece centerlines and all in 4 lug vw.

I've been stalking this site nearly daily for a year or so feeding my habit. I have to say joescoolcustoms and murzi's posts have given me some great ideas and inspiration. Not sure if I should thank you or cuss you - it does get expensive.

I have a couple questions for you guys:

what size rear tires and wheels were on the murzi's old red buggy?

Also, after test fitting the 8.5 centerlines this afternoon, it looks like fitting disk brakes inside them will be tight. Has anyone done that with those wheels before? any pics>

I am a centerline fan also. We run them in the dirt and most of them get dinged and bent pretty bad. Centerlines can be pounded back out without breaking. And we have bent some really bad. Running tubes, we can always get back to camp where the big hammer resides.

Wheels on the rear. 8.5. 3.5 backspace. 295/50's. Fronts 3.5's with 135's

Has anyone ever sent some Centerline rims back to Centerline to be strightened?

I have 5 different centerline rims that vary from slightly bent to grossly bent and wondered how well they do the job and roughly how much it costs.

I love the look of centrelines on a manx but I am having trouble finding any in 4 x 130 here in Oz . These Meyers wheels are available but expensive, I havent seen them on any sites or advertised in the US , has anyone heard anything about them good or bad ?

I am using the Bruce Meyers Signature wheels on my buggy.
They are the wide 5 one's. They are working out great, no run out and look good.
I did hand paint Bruce's signature in the wheels to make it stand out.

Looks like an Erco or CMS wheel with a little CNC work.
