I tried the search, but ...

This is for my '83.5 Westy. About every fith try, the engine will start for a split second, then die. Then it will start right up. And the other day while going into a parking lot at night, the engine died and the headlights went out for a split second, then on again.

I'm thinking ignition swith. Any other ides? My grounds are good, and I have new vacuum hoses.

Since the headlights go through the ignition switch I think you answered your question.
It's easy enough to test your theory. Pop the column cover off, unplug the ignition switch, and plug a new switch in and activate with a flat blade screw driver.
