The problem is you are running two potentiometers in parallel the voltage dropper and wiper switch this means you change one and it changes the other
The way do do it would be to measure the resistance your variable voltage dropper when it has nothing connected and is set to your 6.6 v now you need to find a fixed resister with this same resistance as you measured and wire it in Series with the switch this will then mean the switch will receive a fixed 6v and it will work like it did originally
The switch will be wired in parallel with the wiper motor for it to be able to very the speed of the wipers. Hope that helps and works sorry took me a while to figure out had to check with my phisics teacher to make sure |

You may need to change the setting for the video a they are set to private.
Oh yes, I turned up blank on the motor but Frank may have something hidden away but it sounds like you may have the answer. |

Visual progress seems to be painfully slow these days with most of the "large" chunks done. A couple of weeks ago I thought I'd better get on to the fuel tank since it's sat in epoxy for over a year and for some reason didn't think gloss black suited it so I went with satin instead.
Had to have it specially mixed by code as they add a paste to knock the gloss level down, or at least Glasurit paints do.
Block sanded the top of the tank and hand rubbed the under side, painted it last week giving it near on a week to cure.
Took the sending unit apart and cleaned out some old gunk left in there so that was ready for yesterday as well.
Yesterday saw the end of the electrics apart from the wipers which I haven't completed yet, finished off the fuel pump wiring to the point of wires under the dash and installed the tank.
The tank is obviously supposed to be grounded to the body but rather than grinding off new paint for an earth point I ran an extra wire from the sending unit to one of the tank told down brackets. Mint!
Then there's these things, were in my bag labelled "tank" but I don't think they are T34........Beetle maybe?? (it had a Beetle tank in it when I got it)
They look like body to front beam thingymajigs....

As I suspected, I can bin these now.
Here's another one of those stupid things living at the bottom of the world, wiper blades....looked everywhere for silver blades but couldn't find anything.
Sure they are on Ebay Germany but by the time I had them here, 100 smackers for a poxy couple of wiper blades, NO thanks!
Ended up with some SWF blades from a local VW place here and sandblasted the black off them then painted the arms and blades silver with a 2 part paint and did the vent for the rear window at the same time.
One night next week I'll take the blingy shifter apart and paint that, anything to avoid starting on the longblock........
Looking at that picture reminds me, still have to polish the screen corner clips.......more stalling

Looking good John. 8) On my own car I ended up using NOS arms, as mine were broke from being tightened down too much in the past.
We have the same issue here too, in that only black blades are available in the size you need. While not correct, I just used the black ones, as I was after functon over estetics. You used to be able to find refills years ago, but those seemed to have dried up as well (probably no profit in them  ).
The fuel tank looks good too. It's a shame to have to cover it though. I know Lee has some pics of how it should be covered, as I don't know if you still have your original pieces. My own were shrunk and used up (not really worth saving), not to mention brittle. |

It's pretty easy to disassemble the black wiper blade holders, scuff them a bit and paint them matte silver. I did that to the Bosch brand holders I have on my Ghia. Now all I need to do is find a source for 13 in. refills that fit (have yet to find a source for original old-style Bosch and the other manufacturers seem to use different proprietary blade systems). I hate replacing the whole thing when all that's needed is new blade refills, but that's the game they make you play these days. |

The rear vent glass upright seals have been something I've been looking to solve as well, nothing I came across was really close or good enough to original but just the other day I was handed something which I think is as close as you'll ever get.
Looks to be like original D profile rubber, absolute mare to fit but does the job very very nicely.

These are a pretty good fit for the vent seals:

Good to see other options for stuff we cannot get. |

I have a bunch of ANCO replacements blades, would they work?
I like the old red-dot anti lift wipers. They look vintage appropriate. |

Anco and Trico seem to be the two companies that still make refills. Not sure if they will fit the Bosch blade holders or not. |

Looks like you're making great progress, I suspect there will be 2 world class Ghia's finished in Auckland before too long. |

Sure will keep for you.
Need to crack on, the urge to start gutting the Porsche is becoming too much to bare.......and once that starts the poor Ghia will be forgotten about. |

These actually say they are not for Anco holders.
