oh really? ive only seen few on the east coast. Are there any advantages to haveing one, or is it rather pointless?
Some old hippy guy I talked to who had one on his bus said it greatly reduced his oil temp. Not worth it to be because it looks like shit. Maybe we see mroe over here because it's warmer?

agreed, they do look horrible, and speak of the devil, i was going down the road yeaterday, and stopped into sheetz to get a drink and some gas, and another bus pulled up........ i haven't seen another split in a while around here, but i go out and hes looking at my bus so we start to talk and he had an oiler cooler, and its welded on to the panel in front of the vent on the Drivers side, appearently it was there when he got it........... it worked on his bus, and looked descent :? but he had a rat looking panel with holes everywhere, so to each his own i suppose. |

I mention the oil lines in my one of my first posts, below:
Busryder wrote:
Nope. It's a hot-dog warmer... or a 'dumb' Chick burner, whichever works for your individual locale.
It was on there when I found my Westy and I haven't had the heart to yank it from its moorings.
It would work if it were to be hooked up... but then I would have to bend one of the louvers back in, it had been tastefully cut at only one end, and then it was bent in to provide space for the oil lines. I am just fortunate that that was the only thing cut way back then... it was done in the seventies.
Could'a been the wheel-wells, no?
Here you forget the cardinal rule: It's my bus... and I can do with it as I damn well please. It pleases me to honor the Vietnam Vet that both, put the oil cooler there and sold this Westy to me for a Grand. (It's a good that opinions are only as plentiful as are... everything else, and thus only valuable when warranted.
RPGreg2600 wrote: Some old hippy guy I talked to who had one on his bus said it greatly reduced his oil temp. Not worth it to be because it looks like shit. Maybe we see mroe over here because it's warmer?
Again, only one opinion...
Then you mention something else that you've never seen before, RINC's HighRooof, and offer another opinion:

This bus has been posted, over and over, for years on this site, and Rinc is famous for doing so. \:D/ Good on him for doing so, too....... more power to you brother.
My point:
Do with your bus as you will, it's your shit.
Sig it if you wish, but this is only MY opinion.[/url]

I ment no insult by asking about the oiler cooler, i asked wether it was practical as to use, because i thought it was an interesting peice of equipment, i ment no disrespect to you or the vietnam vet, i was just wondering what it did for a bus, not trying to be disrespectful, i barely see them out here in VA and was interested in finding out more about them, i actually thought it was pretty neat looking thats why i asked in the first place to you, due to it being your bus, i am really sorry if i offended you in anyway. |

None taken, my friend... it was Greg, not you, that I took offence to... but again, it was only his OPINION. And it is his to make, but it only holds so much weight.
I, myself, am not personally offended by Greg's post, but it is a cardinal rule that if it is YOUR bus you can do with it as you wish, whatever you like with it, IF it belongs to YOU... and everyone has the right to play with their own bus, as well as the right to form an opinion on someone else's bus, AND to form an opinion on the choices that one may make regarding the style in which that one other person chooses to rock said bus.
No more needs to be said. Carry on genitalmen...
