I did the search and did not find anything close, so here goes.
I have an 87 Westy Weekender with the air con mounted above the bed in the back. It was not working when I bought the van and after some minor attempts to fix it and one very high quote to get it going I have decided I would rather have the head room. This brings up where I need some help.
When I look into the unit to take it apart/off and off I see 2 hoses running out of the middle of the unit and into a space on the side of the van. The left one goes through the top part of the closet separate from the compressor lines and wires that go to the engine area. I cannot tell what they are or how to disconnect them. Suggestions and ideas are welcome. I want to keep the unit in tact so if someone needs it they can use it.
Also, my speakers are mounted in the air con cabinet, for vans without the overhead units, where do you put your rear speakers?
Thanks for your help on this oh mighty Sambanistas!

I would undo them at the expansion valve. It's a silver square
about 2"x3" has the hoses screwed into it. . It's right off the big finned silver part that is inside that over head housing. Looking from the rear on the left side. The Bentley gives a pretty good step by step to pull
that housing down and out.
Your going to have to loosen up the closet cabinet as
the hoses and harness run down behind it. I have tried
to just pull off that cover in the cabinet but if I recall
the hoses have a clamp you can't get to. The more you
can save the better. Just keep in mind if you can't get
something apart your better to just cut the hose. Usually
the fitting can be reused on new hoses so try not to bugger
them up.
I would try and find someone to trade cabinets with that wants a/c.
It's worth a shot. |

I got the expansion valves part covered, there is another hose that goes into the area behind the connector. No conector for it that I can feel, it looks like it goes in one end and out the other.
I am afraid to cut them because I am not sure they are part of the Air Con unit.
