Made the trip up north of Phoenix last week to help a friend pull a bus out of hibernation. Plans are to get it back on the road with minimal repairs. I'll try to keep this thread updated. Thought the pictures were good...

Hey Johnny- Yeah, it's not too bad for a '50... Or any barndoor today for that matter. I thought it was a bit rougher when I helped pick it up in about '98 from the Long Beach area. Prior to that it was owned by somebody in Redondo Beach where, from what I understand, was parked in plain view. I believe that's where the picture on barndoor.dk was taken, though I'm not sure.
It should be making the trip out to OCTO in June along with my '51. |

This is my November 1950 bus. VIN 20-05909. I bought it from Eberhard Spengler from Huntington Beach in 1998 with help from Loren Pearson. Has been stored outside until 04 and inside since. Was shipped to US by Vlasek Polak full of Porsche parts as was his habit. Logo is from Stuttgart radio station and was used for repairs and parts. Any help from our German friends would be appreciated. Plan is get it running and keep the patina and logos. Will replace much of the rubber as it is cooked. Hope to be part of the AZ caravan to the June OCTO show with my son Hans doing much of the driving. Dick Christensen |

Hey John, Nope. It's just a regular one. Don't waste your time with it then, just send it to the metal recycler where you probably could get $89 for the metal  |

wow, I've always wondered what happened to that one, I've lusted over that logo for years and years, maybe second only to a Telefunken Bus, its been in the US for a while if its rocking a Black Plate ... maybe they just slapped it on there to park it in public back then?
