Been lurking on the forum for a while and never have posted anything, and I decided to finally post, join the community and be social and all that jazz.
Been into VW's for a while. This Vanagon is my 3rd VW. Previous two being a 73 bug and a 93 Corrado SLC. Ive uploaded some pictures of my work in progress. Im assembling the case as we speak. Im hoping to be done within a week as I am doing this in my spare time.
Strange story about the purchase of the Vanagon.
The vanagon on the left of the photo is mine. I bought that van the same week my best friend from jr high and high school bought his, and we hadn't talked in almost a year due to circumstances but managed to contact each other that week after the purchase... No clue each other were looking for a van, and we both ended up buying the same year, and same color and interior color the same week. Only difference is I got the manual transmission and he got the automatic. HA HA!
Paid $1300 for it, exactly how it looks in the photos, put a new set of tires on it, and a hall effect sensor, then drove it all over america before rebuilding the engine. |

Best of luck trying to find other Vanagon owners in Dallas, they are definitely few and far between. I just moved out of Dallas recently and in the 10 months or so I was there with the van, I could count all the other vans I saw on one hand. There are definitely more VWs in Austin.
If you ever need the assistance of a good mechanic, I can't say enough good things about Gordy at Dallas Precision Imports.
Enjoy the van! |

I'm down in San Antonio. Flying out to San Diego week from Thursday (3-15) to pick up my new vanaroo. Years ago had a 412 4-door fastback and was a member of the Houston VW club. Did well showing in meets around the state and enjoyed the experience and would like to meet like-minded enthusiasts.

I'm north of Dallas. We just received a 80 Vanagon as a "gift". I've had several Bugs but nothing fuel injected. It's a new adventure for me and my wallet. First rattle out of the box, the EGR is FUBAR. Oh Joy!
When that get straightened out, I wouldn't mind making some meets. |
