the handiwork of Fred Clarke who took up model making when he retired 'to fill the time'. he's made about 50 models from scrap wood and old plumbing bits and seems to have had a VW phase. article about him here https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn8re4dg1v0o?a...VkF92OgBIA

OK VWDog, you mentioned previously about a VW Type 82e :?: :?:
This ARNOLD Split window VW went through the Restor-Version Shop
and was converted to a type 82e KdF Wagen about 10 years ago . . . .

Another Southlandz Model car Swap Meet and Contest has come and gone. This year there were more than 320 models
entered in 40 categories! Competition was extremely tough, but I managed to win four awards (one 2nd and three 3rds).
Some of my entries included:
Taxi Herbie

The Bubble Bus

Bugaboo and Bug Out

The small 1/32 Revell snap kit

Pyro fire car, Aachen Germany

IMC gasser

and the Revell California Bug I built 50 years ago!

I didn't expect the California Bug to win anything, but it's not many builders who keep their models for so long, plus the
three-tone fade paint job was pretty bold for a kid!

Next year's special classes witll include VW and Porsche.

bravo! =D> liking the apt use of a 'pyro' kit for the fire bug; and the green gasser is neat 8)

jack1448 Mon Jun 16, 2025 2:06 pm

Nice entries! I'm guessing the Bubble Bus and Pyro Fire Car were winners given the stickers seen on the entry cards. Which other models won awards?

Blue Baron Tue Jun 17, 2025 10:44 am

The stickers were just to indicate special classes.

Yes, those were two special class winners, along with Bugaboo (2nd) in Nostalgic Dragster.

OK . . . Check it out :!: :!: :!:
