Can I use my old steering wheel on this bug? And is everyone sure that the roof and windows match between the 2 cars? The 2 rust spots/cracks on the middle of the door pillar concerns me. Do you think they are there just because of rust or damage from the tree falling on it?

your original body was a 1970 so the rear window would be smaller.

allsidius told you in your other thread.

I see from your pics that the rear window area is damaged too on the new body, so I suggest you drop a question in the body/paint section of the forum.
You may be able to carry the small window on the new body together with the roof. |

What do you guys think of this front bumper idea? Kinda the pre-runner style. Or should I just keep the one I have and put a plate on it, spanning the 2 lower tubes? Or does it not fit with the style of car I'm making?
The old one:

Pre runner style without a doubt. It looks bad ass

The new bumpers and rear cages in that style are cool but the pricing is out of hand

A little update on the new pan, getting the front and rear suspension together, got the hook and rod placed and welded, some of the welds aren't that pretty but they're strong. Trying to get it on wheels soon. Had to use the single spring plate because of compatibility issues with the trailing arm. Its definitely not a easy fit. Very difficult to say the least, so I went with the single spring plate.

Another update, got the pan on wheels and the new body up on sawhorses. Will definitely need heater channel replacement though, the foam inside the front 1/4 of heater channel made it rust out. Got a bentley manual finally too.

So we got the roof off of the new body. Went pretty well, the only thing I'm worried about is getting the drip rail bent back over and still looking nice. Good time to get all the death foam out too! Used the little bars from the headliner to get the foam out, bent in different shapes. Worked very well, only if you have spares or are not going to use them at all like me.
