Both books are for the do-it-yoursself restorer. The first book, by Jim Kellog is an update/improvement to his first book. The second book by Ron Roland is a compilation of many articles he has written over the years plus new material just for the book. If you are going to get just one, I would go with Ron Rolands, but I am sure you can learn from both. Roland's book does it the right way, as considered by many. In otherwords, he tries to show how to duplicate what the factory did. Jim Kellog advises that he does not do "show" cars, but driven cars, so he takes some shortcuts that some would not consider "correct". |

I referred to both books during the restoration of my 356A. I used a variation on Jim Kellogg's method of replacing the longs with the rockers on. If I recall correctly Ron Roland's book is a little more comprehensive although more pics would have been good. |
