Stígandi , Thanks for posting that video. You've worked out a good solution for an easy shower.

My mailman has seen me testing out my strange vanagon projects too. He always looks at me like I'm crazy.

Extra points for a woman comfortable with being filmed while she showers! (that comment added 100 views for you). Seriously I mean that - very cool. I was unclear on where the shower is?? A van is not tall enough to stand in and I couldn't figure it out. Tx.

Nice shower Craig and Holly. I too need one like Holly, not camera shy that is for sure!

Not sure why you are showering inside the van though? The rear hatch is a perfect place for your curtain and you gain more sqft when not in use. It's like an extra room for shower, storage, privacy etc. If you have a pop top you can put the water bag up there and get better gravity feed. We simply use the drain holes that are on the underneath of the hatch to secure the curtain with bungies. We also put some 4 snaps with lines to secure the curtain to the side of the inside of the van so if the wind blow noone see our junk. Our water bag is up in the rack basket for gravity and constant heating. In heavy wind, we pull the curtain and stake it down so it does not blow. We stand on the inside of a 2 liter bottle carrying create to keep our feet out of the mud and for drainage. The shower head/nozzle goes through our bottom curtain rod that way you don't have to even hold it. On hot nights we get more fresh air from the rear and use a mosquito net over all of it to keep the no se'ems out. :lol:

I've been planning a new van build and there are many things about the vanagons that I like, but I have yet to come up with a good plan for shower and toilet and if I can't, I may end up with a dreaded Sprinter van instead...

One idea is to get a hightop vanagon and plan to only sleep up top, and eliminating/modifying the bench seat area to create more floor space for adding a shower/toilet combo.

I like the piping around the top (painted black to heat up?) but mostly I carry 2 if not 3 kayaks on top of my van. how ever a long straight pipe that has a hose connect at the lower end of the van,,, hmmm

Indeed, the flat black or paint is what heats the pipe. Take a look at www.roadshower.com this a baddass unit. Single pipe pressurized.
This can be bought or built to go on just one side of your rack.

If I recall correctly the math = 18" of 4inch PVC pipe per Gallon.
My next build will just be 2 sided " L" shaped as I have a single Yakima Bike Tray on my rack that would interfere with a full square tube system design.

Thank you for posting. Could you post the dimensions of the pvc curtain support and the tub that acts as the shower pan? The trick is keeping the rest of the van dry.

You need

2 shower curtains
5 clothes pins
We have used several different collection containers... It is something deep and you feel comfortable standing in.
