Has anyone performed any welds on V Dubs with an Arc Welder? If so, how do you compare it to MIG OR TIG?

Arc welding is for Frames and heavy metal HSS . Boat building LOL

No arc is too hot for the Automotive HSS in unibodies....

You could weld some of the heavier stuff like adjusters in the front beam 3/32" 7018 would make a gorgeous weld if you are experienced. Mig welding is easier though, and the thin stuff is next to impossible with arc welding. Stick welding is much more difficult to learn than mig.

Back when all I had was a stick welder, I replaced the rear trunklid pivots (about 16 gauge onto the inner fender) on a 914. I just sort of spot welded it. It held for at least 5 years before I sold it, but it wasn't pretty.

long before there was mig welding, there was arc welding. yes, you can arc weld floor pans, but you will have trouble doing body sheetmetal repairs... unless you have an arc welder able to run VERY low amperage. it's a messier weld than mig, which is no big deal if you don't mind doing some grinding.
