Hi guys. Looks like I need to find a replacement Zetec engine for my van. :-(

Can anyone point me to a good source for a new crate Zetec? If they are NLA, then what is the next best alternative?

I am starting with my previous Zetec in my Bostig v2 conversion, meaning that I could transfer over everything not internal to the previous engine. But I want a zero-mile or rebuilt engine; no drama about will the XYZ fit; and as little labor as possible.

Thanks. I'm still reeling from losing my almost-new engine, less than 2K miles. Arrrgh.

There is a zero mile long block listed on ebay for $1,000 right now. Since you already have a complete engine that is probably your best bet. I haven't seen any complete crate engines for a few months, but have heard rumors that they are still out there.

New crate Zetecs are getting tough to find but there was one on e-bay recently.

Item number 290683811136 sold for $1200.00 plus $149.00 shipping from Engines Direct in Phoenix AZ Perhaps they have access to another?

(That's less than I have in the one I purchased from Bostig that's sleeping under my workbench waiting for the rest of conversion $$$ to fall out of the sky! :lol: )

There are still low mileage used Zetecs out there... Check out car-part.com for one in your area.

The $1000 ebay long block is probably your best bet. All your bolt-ons are still low miles. The couple crates that have popped up on ebay lately have been cobbled together from spare parts. Not sure they are worth the money in your situation.

My racer connections say Ford and a US based race school are going to unload new motors soon.
I have no clue as too the specifics, but it has happened in the past and the motors were a deal :!:
I'm buyin' one this time around for sure :!:

Bostig and the conversion they offer has been a hot topic around my shop lately.
I post this all the time and it bares repeating....the under carriage protection system they have come up with is a work of art.

Quick oil change place didn't tighten drain plug, it backed out, oil light came on, plug was gone and all the oil was dumped. Engine still runs but has a loud knock, very low on power, and feels gritty if you know what I mean.

At least your daughter got that cool job at Yosemite. (I just came over from Pelican) I should hope that the oil change place will pay for everything.

The VW dealer in Santa Barbara once gave my '81 Scirocco an oil change. One wrench put in the required amount of oil, then another wrench did the same thing. Twice as much oil as required is not good. They didn't hesitate to make it right.

Do your own oil change, at least you know it was done right, but I guess you know that.

Well, in that case. They are available from Ford Racing brand new for $6000.
