So i purchased the rear bench seat a while back, i've been trying to figure out exactly how the top fits into the bottom. Whether or not it is only the little tab that inserts into the bottom slot? Seems insecure but i could be wrong. Looking for some help, Thanks!

The rear seat backrest doesn't attach to the bottom. The backrest has two little L-brackets that hold it to the inside sheet metal of the bus. The L-brackets are mounted about 2/3 the way up on the back side of the backrest.

The seat bottom bolts to the floor mounting tabs using T-bolts and metal retaining caps.

Ok, So your not exactly getting what i mean, maybe it's a weird "aftermarket" set up. I understand that the tabs on the outside bolt to the bus and the bottom of the seat bolts to the floor....What i'm trying to figure out is i have a "tab" on the bottom of the backrest that seems like it would slide into an insert on the bottom. So it would separate from the bottom seat to the sheet metal of the engine hump....follow? I'll try to get a picture up.

That tab is found on bay seats

I agree. If I remember right there is a little pocket that the tab goes into on Baywindows that Splitties don't have.

Correct. On the front sloping section of the engine bay cover there's a bracket that the tab slots into and then you through bolt it. Very strong and secure in combination with the two L brackets....

Freaking sweet......Either it was a bay seat he had cut for the log or a split seat with a welded tab....

I had a 68 Bay rear seat and the middle leg was swept back to acomodate the heater log it also had that tab on the back rest.
