Is there a better source for T34 rocker pieces? I did some searching, and it seems that Lars Neuffer had them at one point, but his site is pretty much defunct. There's references to a type34.org, but that's dead, too.
These are "ok" but will need some work to get the lower profile correct.

From the photos I've seen I don't think any of the reproduction Type 34 sheet metal is perfect. Those look like they might be the ones Lars sold. Here are the current sources I know of:
Rudiger Huber
http://www.karmannghia.de/liste.php?set_shop=2&set_wg=34&set_markwg=0;85;34
Jurgen Magdelyns
(US distribution: conctact [email protected])
BTW, I'll take those off your hands if you're just gonna throw them out... |

Have you tried this site?

Those pieces look better than the ones I had to fabricate. That's why they call it body work.
You could as To Reay how they fit, as his car has a bunch of those red panels on it. |

| Carsten Klein (Germany) distributes the repro rocker panel set (6 pcs) for Jurgen Magdelyns (Belgium) at the least expensive cost. He's a pro at packing/shipping as well. Jurgen's rocker panels can be seen installed on a Regatta Blue 1968 in Belgium in the #15 T34 World News magazine (www.T34World.org). It's the best source from a true T34 enthusiast. |

Are those the same as the ones I have?

I don't think the sheet metal pieces that Rudiger and Jurgen sell are the same stampings as the red primered stuff, but I don't know for sure. Lee, do you know the original source for the re primered aftermarket pieces? |

You might try asking Tom Reay, as the lower half of his "late" t-34 has them. I can't remember who he said he got them from, but they did fit pretty decent (according to his pics). |

| I do believe that all three sources use different parts. Lars has the red ones, Jurgen's are gray primered, and KG.de are different too. Jurgen's are the least expensive by far. US$700 SHIPPED to America from Belgium for the 6-piece rocker panel set. |

Jurgen's pricing is hard to beat. Any idea whose stampings are the most accurate? |

The only experience I have is with my 1965 that was fitted with Lars' rocker set produced off the original master presses at Karmann in 2004. These are no longer available.
I don't know how you'd decide which fits the best. No one would buy all three and evaluate their fit. A good bodyshop is the key to getting the right fit, obviously. Jurgen fits his own products to T34s like the Regatta Blue 1968 M345 featured in T34 World News the past few editions. That speaks volumes about his products, in my opinion anyway. |

Not only that- it almost seems as if no two Type 34s are exactly identical in those areas. The patch panels may also actually fit better with the body off the pan. |

Both of these comments are right on the money. A good body shop can make ill fitting panels fit good, and look good. And you have to remember, these cars were hand built. They might have used jigs during the fitting portion of the body build, but the pieces were still hand fitted to each body, and custom shaped to it. That's part of the reason doing hood, trunk lid, or door swaps seem to create new problems that didn't exist before (they were all matched to each body at the factory for fit and finish). Again, this is where a good body shop comes into play, in getting everything right. |

Well Thom, if this is the case I'd say you already have the best repair panels possible, short of NOS sheet metal. |

Here is a picture of mine getting fitted.I bought them from Ruditger.
I had them epoxy primed after I got them.
I also bought the wheel wheels and the other rocker pieces. Seemed to work just fine. |

| Cool, thanks for the feedback! If any of you had seen the issues I had with my '57 23-window, you'd understand why I'm a bit more careful about repro meta. |
