I'm looking at a '67 and wonder about two toning it. Is it correct for that car?

2-tone was never a VW option. So it's never "correct" for a car, it just looks good.

Go tell a bus owner that.....

Incorrect. I've seen VW factory pics of two tone cars on the line and Hebs had two tone.

VW Dealer option for Two tone on beetles sounds about right.
Buses, single cabs and doubles came two tone from factory if wanted.
Even ghias had the option for a two tone from factory

I'm not too sure about the two tone bugs but Heb's are a coachbuilt and are different than a car from the VW factory.

If you have a bus, a standard micro, deluxe would be your only two toned option: though I have heard of trucks being painted that way, but I have never seen the literature myself".

Personally I could live with out the 2 tone paint on bugs especially the big window bugs but I do like the sealingwax red / black combo on an early bug.
