View original topic: Back Seat - Attach Carpet

I'm prepping for connecting the backseat backrest carpet to the luggage tray portion of the carpet kit. I don't have the metal strip that connects the two pieces of carpet together (see gallery image below).

Does anyone know where to purchase one of those? Anyone know the part # for it?

Also, how does it actually connect? In the picture below, I don't see the black metal strip. Does it connect underneath? Maybe that is a different year backseat below.

I don't have the parts in front of me at the moment (well, I don't even own the metal strip as mentioned above), but I'm guessing you put both pieces of carpet underneath that metal strip and then screw it into the fiber board that is connected to the backseat backrest. Is that correct?

Thanks everyone!

Just found these pics...

This one looks like the metal strip is hidden, and the piece of carpet that attaches to the rear luggage tray folds over top of it. That's probably the answer right there.

This doesn't seem "correct".

Yes, it is. That is the way my the original carpet is in my '66.
The two pieces of carpet are sandwiched under the metal strip.
I will say that on mine the carpet on the back of the seat is on top of the small piece that goes on the bottom, but that is a minor detail.
The small piece's loose end then gets stuck into the channel on the front edge of the package shelf just like the picture.

I usually refer people to this guy when they ask about the availability of some obscure part. Here has a ton of this sort of thing. Just check his ad's or call and ask if they have one...

Excellent. Thanks for that.

Ok, cool. That's how mine is sitting right now waiting for me to attach it to the seat.

Will do. Thanks for the tip.

If you're in need of the carpet channel clamping strip, which I belive is the part you're missing, it's spot welded to the luggage compartment floor. I have one I just removed from a car. $20 and it's yours. But shipping costs from California might make it less feasible.
