I must get on with mine... too many projects!!
We're looking forward to the same scenario... not having to put the roof up, nice and warm, less noise, no problems when it rains (happens a lot here!) etc etc.
Well done.
Not sure I'd have had the balls to do that to an original Westy Syncro poptop!

I should just clarify that my van is a Syncro 16" with a Westy roof transplant, rather than a factory Westy.
The interior is a homemade work in progress started from a raggedy 8 seater Caravelle, done to my current bodging standards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodging#English_slang
Pics will follow. I'll start a new thread as and when.
Simon, I admire your craftwork. |

Nice work! I wanna high top too! 8)
Didn't Caulk Galore star in those adult-themed home reno shows back in the '80s? |

I have to clarify, "Caulk Galore" is the production company, no relation to the actor :)
alistair
PS Caulk Galore's tag line/mission statement is "We Get Everywhere" |

Their tagline would be that much better if it was "We get IT everywhere."
Just sayin'.
Also, has anybody ever used duct mastic (from a tub, not tube) for van projects? Definitely messy, but I have been using it as vibration and pseudo sound deadening on hard to reach places, like in the front doors. |

So what is the interior height?
Are all Getaway tops the same dimension?
Thanks!
Neil.

Hi Van Nut
You can see in the pics that the interior ceiling is stepped behind the vent. The vent area's ceiling is about 6'1", the rear area about 6'6" I think. It's high enough for me, a little short for the gawky gangly overheight mutants out there :) |

Oh and yes, I've looked at quite a few getaway roofs and they all have the same shape and size afaik |

Simon,
I think you meant to write:
"high enough for the freakishly short mutant hightop owners out here"
signed, the sexily tall,
