Today I modified my decklid latch. I don't think my 1776 is getting enough air under it's non-louvered decklid, so I added a ~4 inch extension, plus a tennis ball on the end of that to get plenty of air into the engine compartment. I was running just the tennis ball before and I think it helped, just not enough.

I removed the hook from the latch mechanism by punching out the two pins and then riveting in a piece of bent steel where one of the pins used to sit. to prevent it from rotating, and bolted a bent piece of sheet steel around the latch mechanism and steel. To top it all of I put the tennis ball back on the end which will help dampen any noise it might make as I go down the road.

We'll see how it helps with temps. It's been pretty hot and humid here in upstate NY and I know my motor doesn't like the heat that much. At idle (and warm) I've been getting the oil light coming in. If this doesn't help with my low oil pressure, I think I'll have narrowed it down to the oil pressure relief/control springs and pistons.
