I need advice ! My 1969 bus is dual carb and is overheating I installed external oil sump but after bout two hours she's running real sluggish. Thinking about installing oil cooler, any advice/ tip would be greatly appreciated

your engine is type I based ?
you'd need to drill the block to use an external oil cooler, a tear down i think

all though i think there might be an oil pump cover with take off's for an oil cooler

what oil cooler are you using right now, early in shroud, dog house
if you are using an early in shroud cooler, you should change to dog house, with the dog house you can modify the rear tins to allow space to use a type IV oil cooler, it's the same basic fit, but you will need the longer studs from the type IV block, and you will need to extend the rear tins to cover it
it will give you another pass or two, i can't remember how many, but it ill give you more oil cooling

i had a quick google, these will explain a bit better

this one is how to remove the motor from a bug, then do the conversion, but you will get the idea

have you got your engine bay air tight or as near to it as you can, not having the rubber seal, or have air space in there can cause the motor to over heat

Is your oil hot, or are your heads hot? Cooling the oil down will make little difference in the temperature of your heads. You need to make sure your tune up is right on and that your cooling system is working as well as new.

Are you running the correct pulleys, is your belt tight?

Have you checked to see if anything is blocking your fan?

What color are your plugs and your tail pipe?

What distributor are you running and what do you have your timing set to?

You likely want to post on the Bay Window Bus forum.
