That looks like part of the limit stop bumper that goes at the very front of the track. The carrier assembly makes more noise when it bangs into it as it is closed.
Here is a image and part number. http://www.vwbusshop.de/251843876-Limit-stop-for-sliding-door-T3
I have bought them stateside before but I forget from who. |

| Your description makes perfect sense. It did fall from the front section of the track - I just happen to be paying enough attention to notice it hit the ground. The fact that it's making a louder noise as well almost clinches the deal. I will hunt down the part and hope that it doesn't require a full removal of the door for install. Thanks again. |

Check out: http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/T2/1985/4/56/
sign up, log in and you can view all the part diagrams and lists for these and other VWs.
Now that is a pre 86 sliding door which, correct me if I'm wrong, is different than the 86 and beyond door. On one 1985 sliding door diagram I see a small rubber piece on the end of the rubber trim of the top door channel that looks like your piece. NLA-no longer available, looks like a trim piece, may not be crucial. |

| That rubber bumper at the end is small and completely different. I ordered one at the same time as the other piece. |

Interesting, because Zeb at 1stvwparts said that the 035 part of the vw # denoted an accessory. Yeah I'll try to hook it up without and see.
Radio, sorry Bryan. Weird part, and I can't find the darn thing in ETKA. |

Zeb,
Thanks for looking anyway; I just assumed it was stock as I had never had the need to take apart the washer unit. I will putting it all back together minus that. It may have been a common acessory for the military T3s (as was my doka at one point). |

Did your washer pump ever work?
Maybe it is to block it's function during maneuvers? |

| Not yet, given that it is the work week for me, I probably won't be able to get to this until friday. I'll let you all know though. |

| Thanks Bman. I registered at VagCat and checked out the parts blow up. If it is indeed the "stop buffer" that I'm looking for, I may have some difficulty locating one. The piece I have looks to be maybe a chunk that broke off of the stop buffer. I'm not sure about the change from 1985 to 1986 regarding the door and slider. My van is a 1985. I did read somewhere that 1985 was the year for the redesigned (and better) sliding door mechanism, but I don't know for sure personally. |

I have a sneaking suspicion that i asked VC to order that part for me from VWclassic, it shows available on their site.
The link that i posted is a legit site as well. |

Yeah, I've ordered from Gunzel's (VWbushop) before they have some good, but harder to get parts. Very easy to do business with. |

Hey Bman,
You say you have ordered from VWBusshop and they shipped to America?
Thanks. |

| They offer worldwide delivery. Not cheap though. |

If your not in a rush Frank Condelli places an order with them
several times a year. I believe he mentioned a spring
order being the next one.
Busdepot also gets parts from there for people on the
U.S. side of the border. I saved quite a bit on shipping
waiting for my parts to come with a Busdepot order
instead of having them shipped over seas directly to
me. |

I ordered my Doka treasure chest seals, door seals and a few other items from them (Gunzels/VWBusshop) this past summer. I do not remember the shipping breaking my bank though. I ended up paying $33 to ship the seals some trim and some grommets.
I have shipped quite a few small and one or two larger items (not counting OEM metal panels) from Germany and Europe over the last two years. Sometimes the shipping is more than the part itself, but it tends to work out, for that part here stateside would be either NLA or twice the price. When Pawel shipped me my Tristar rear window sliders I paid close to $100 for shipping, when I bought a replacement dropgate step I believe I paid approximately $30 in shipping and $40 for the part.
Google translate is your friend and send your requests in English, often the vendors will all respond in english and let you know what your shipping costs will be before you commit.
Good Luck, and No Fear! |

I did try to sodder that ground bar back to it's broke point on the accessory, but in trying to get it hot I would tend to melt the plastic covering of the "accessory" so I quit with that.
I hooked up the dangling wire and rubber hose back up to the tank, turned the ignition and heard the washer pump working; I ended up having to clean, unplug and adjust the nozzle outlet before I got a wet windshield.
However, without that device "accessory" in line the washer pump works fine. Who knows maybe it's a 1984 GPs tracking device? Got me. I'll keep it though and maybe one day when I get my dream syncro Bundeswher tintop I'll discover it's purpose. |

Allo friends,
While installing some headlight relays in my wife's 89 Bluestar this weekend I noticed an empty fuse relay holder. When checking the forms today for work comparisons and things to watch out for I noticed this photo and the large relay that is absent from my wife's fuse box:
Can anyone ID this relay and tell me what it influences?
Thanks, |

I think that is a seatbelt/door chime relay? |

yup. The annoying La Cucaracha noisemaker that goes off when the keys are in the ignition and the driver door is open.
You aren't missing anything. |

| Thanks guys, agreed, no need to track one of those down, and it explains why it is missing in the first place. |
