I found these parts at the bottom of the door when I removed the door panel to apply sound deadening. The measuring tape is for size reference. Any idea what those two black rubber ends are for?

Hello friends,

I was underneath my doka yesterday replacing my stick shift when I spied this old hunk of rust:

Anyone have a clue what it is, I am of a mind to replace it.

It sits behind the front wheel on the passenger side, above the steering rack.

Bman that's the brake proportioning valve. van-café:

The rust on the outside is pretty normal has nothing to do with how it operates.

Do those even go bad?

Seen underneath a vanagon holding on hoses or cables. Pointy part pops into a hole and expands. Clever Krauts.

I've never seen one fail. I've seen them so the lines couldn't be removed and I had to go to my junk pile to find a better looking one. I did, however see one van with a WillWood manually adjustable brake bias valve. Not sure if it was advantageous...

Hi, great idea for a thread! I found this mysterious wire and plug. I think it goes back to the clutch housing. Any idea what it is, and where I can plug it in?

Question of the week, twice a week, every week

Sorry folks, I'm still working on my search and keyword skills. Found it! But it can't hurt to have such a popular question answered here for whoever else might need it, right? Here's the link that solved it for me:

No need to be sorry. That plug confuses everyone the first time. Good job on the search BTW. :D

Ok, I've pulled my syncro engine, tranny, and fuel tank-

I need help identifying a black plastic hose, I missed it when dropping the motor/tranny so not sure where it came from-

One end goes into a 1/4" plastic elbow which then goes into a grommet in the crankcase. Seems to be vacuum? to the bell housing?

My elbow is broken and I'm not sure where the other end of the plastic line goes....

syncrodoka Sun May 11, 2014 9:58 am

That is a vent line that terminates above the gas tank. There is one for the tranny, front diff and engine bellhousing.

Ok cool, thanks! so the other end is just open? Easy enough. I figure that the elbow is NLA from vw, was thinking of a brass replacement but it's hard to find an elbow anywhere. Any thoughts? It doesn't sound all that important so I'm sure I can find something that will work.

Got another one for ya
My syncro engine stamp reads DGR 276555

I haven't seen the DGR code listed anywhere???

I figured out that these are called “BMW & Mercedes Wire Routing Clips 7mm X 10mm ID”:

Seems like the smallest unit they sell is 50 everywhere I looked, and I only want 10 or so. Does any VW place have them?

At $15 for 50 I wouldn't sweat getting a package. Take you extras and package them at 10 for say $7.50 including shipping and help others out.

Anybody, anybody???

When I bought my van it came with three boxes of random parts.. (extra headlights, grills, etc). It seemed that it was just a jumble of parts (random vehicles even) It also had this large plate... it looks like it might attached not he bottom, but it doesn't seem to line up with anything.

Is this from a vanagon and if so, what/where/orientation?
