I'm installing the shifter kit and new tabs on the front. When removing everything I discovered that the shifter housing and other parts were under the cab, not attached inside the cab to the floor.
All the videos I've seen online always has it in the cab but I did find this box (https://www.ebay.com/itm/192872411856) available online that looks my box. Is this another way of doing it? Was this an option on certain models? Did the PO install this correctly? Thanks!

| Thanks! It was originally a diesel but was converted to a Subaru EJ22. Any concerns you can see keeping it? |

The turbo diesel Vanagons/Transporters have a raised floor around the shifter to accommodate more airflow through the radiator.
The extended shift box was used to allow for the different height. You have to use it.
