Text I found
Quote: Growing up we had eight kids in the family. Through the years we had a series of VW busses, and one squareback.
Tons of memories from our trips in the various busses.
This photo is from around 1970. Mom,Dad and the eight of us kids (I’m at the base of the ladder). Not sure what year this bus was, but we loved it. We drove all of them till the floorboards rotted out of them.
Dad was running for State Representative, hence the “luggage rack/sign holder” on the top of the bus.
We drove that bus from Ohio to Connecticut one summer. Dad drilled two holes in the bumper and put a trailer hitch on it. We towed a pop up camper behind the bus.
We got as far as Allentown, Pennsylvania when the bus blew the engine. We found a repair shop there and put up the camper in their parking lot and stayed there till they replaced the engine.
A few days later when we we were back on the road, the rear bumper broke from the weight of the trailer. Dad stopped at a hardware store and bought a bunch of rope and tied up the bumper, running the rope through the doors and windows.

Apparently, Dad was far better at drilling just the one hole.

Possible, the 4th deluxe has a dent on the door and most of the busses have a plate.

The first non-deluxe has a sliding roof… they seemed to have mostly special models…

Wat is the color combo of the first barn?

Thank you. Have a nice day.

The photo is of "Taxi De Roef" now "Taxi Centrale Raalte" or "TCR Groep" fleet. They offered various transport services and still do, such as taxis, coaches, car rentals, and ambulances based out of Raalte, Netherlands.

Verkoop is Dutch for "sales", and on the front of the building, it says "Shell Service." It was not uncommon to combine auto sales and a service station back then, so my guess is that the fleet was in for service.
