Hello everyone!, I've just registered to this forum as I was, until now, a great visitor of The Samba since some months ago. So, I decided to register and tell everybody my experience with this amazing VW aircooled sport car.
Also I'm here to help anybody who has one SP2 in their hands. I'm a proud owner of two SP2s and I want to share with the community all the things I know about it.

I want to appologise if my English is not so good, I wish you understand me clear. If not, just let me know and I'll explain the things again without any problem.

So now I'll show you my 1974 SP2, the red one that is getting its engine restored.

And the other SP2 that must be restored completely:

Here I'm posting some pictures of the original VW SP2 1700cc engine rebuild.

But this time...I'll be installing 90.5 pistons, Engle W110 camshaft, Stock VW Crankshaft, stock VW 26mm oilpump gears, stock SP2 cylinder heads with the original dual SOLEX 34 PDSIT carburators.

The engine build-up ;D

Hello everybody... I've a very big doubt. A compression ratio of 9.0:1 for an ENGLE W110 Camshaft is acceptable for street use?

My engine configuration is as follows:

* 90.5 AA pistons (0.75mm deck height)

* Stock VW 69mm Crankshaft and original VW case

* Stock VW SP2 Cylinder Heads (51cc combustion chamber) with original VW Valves: 39.5mm intake / 32mm exhaust

* Dual SOLEX 34 PDSIT (34mm) carburators.

* Original VW SP2 26mm oilpump with fullflow system.

* ENGLE W110 Camshaft

* EMPI 28mm lifters with lubrication hole.

* Stock original 1.1:1 VW Rocker Arms (10.5mm valve lift)
