In the other topic I saw a pic of a volksrod p/u that was the first one I can remember seeing.
That gave me inspiration for my first volksrod that I never finished and sold. Now I have this one and am having a hard time leaving the roof on it.
I resisted temptation and stayed away from my cutting tools for one more weekend, But I did find a bed on craigslist. #-o #-o |

Well I replaced the head with the stripped out sparkplug hole and fired it up. and seems to run pretty good. Going to start cleaning it up better and order a clutch for it. I slowed down working on the car but hearing it run has lit a fire under me arse, I'm pretty stoked now.
Sorry about the blurry pics.

Pulled it out under its own power this weekend. I did a nice burnout in the garage then I remembered why I pulled it out in the first place. To bleed the brakes  A long driveway and 1 e-brake cable got me stopped. Got them bled and tore down the street in it grinning from ear to ear. My eyes were watering because it was 35 outside and the windshield is not in yet. Glass, seatbelts, and tidy up a few wires and it should be on the road.

Well here are some interior pics. It's pretty bare. Used some acorn nuts in the chrome trim holes. Shitty pic, I'll try again.
Had an old boat gas can so I Fabbed up some mounting brackets. Going to run a filler neck from behind the quarter window.
Installed a boat seat on the floor, I'm 6'1" and I sit really low. Still have lots of painting inside an some touchup to do.

Mounted some idiot ligts under the dash yesterday and installed the windshield. Got to get a new windshield but it will do for now.
Installed my fuel computer on the dash.
Got one more wheel to paint but nobody seems to carry the color anymore! Need to order some other window rubbers and finish a few nominal things but I'm really close to putting insurance on it. 8) |

Added a stripe last night, Still deciding if ill leave it.
Been kicking around an idea to make a faux split windshield. My buddy who gave me the bug made this.

yo should probably put some weatherstripping on the backside if you plan to keep it. It can probably crack your glass on the ends with vibration. |

Some times it just plan scary.... I tried the split screen too... I didnt care for it...
But....
With your kustom visor, ... It seems to fit... and It may look really good....
BTW... Double sided tape does wonders to secure and cushion...
Looking good.. Spring is near....
I like the stripe idea... Helps break up the black... .
I think you got the right idea...
My opinion.. (I know you didnt ask)..... Id go with something like this. (see below) .
Either something similar..... or maybe .... :-k ..backwards.. from the rear fender curve, pointing forward..all the way to the front fender curve..
Longer and leaner stripes give the illusion of a longer car..
3 looks good, but 2 may work as well....

Had a rare sunny day in the puget sound so I washed it and took it for a spin. Stopped at my buddy's mower shop and got a lot of looks from other drivers and got 1 honk too, Then when I pulled in the driveway a car pulls in behind me and a guy gets out wanting to ask about the Bug. We talked for an hour and turns out he owns a unfinished Volksrod I started in 2007. It changed hands 3 times before he got it. That's small island life for ya! Need to mess with the timing and carb some more and adjust the brakes. Pretty much ready for summer though. 8)
