I am refering to the heater booster blower hanging from the top of my engine compartment. I need id size and a possible source to get them.

Thanks

The OD of the fan shroud opening is 57mm and the spec for the hose is 60mm. I think 2 1/4" might be a tight fit and 2 3/8" can be clamped (I'm assuming you're in for some ridicule when you ask for metric hose at the local hose supplier).

I've always seen it at the vw part places...but mine a couple of years back from Bus Depot IIRC.

This is for a T4. I bought 2.5" hoses and they seem to tight. I am having problems slipping them over the blower fan. I thought they were 2.5" but I guess I am wrong.

I got them on but without a struggle. The right (battery) side is about 1/4 inch larger than the left. The right side fit but really tight. The left one was to big but crunched down tight (alluminum preheater hose). So all said and done

Thanks again

It seems I was too quick to measure. On closer inspection the battery side is a few millimeters larger. Further openings aren't even round, they are oval.

Here are the booster fan shroud OD measurements from my spare for anyone trying to match up hose.

(left): 56mm x 58mm
(right): 62mm x 57mm

The original part numbers are 211 261 235 (left), 211 261 236A (right). The plastic section on the right that FI busses came with was 236B. Bus Depot carries 235A and 236. Wasn't that fun?

The 235A hose for the left side you buy is definitely round. The tag also says 55-64 air hose. I haven't been out to the bus to measure the hose on the other side and I don't feel like it.

On the spare hose and the aluminum seems to be sandwiched between the black outside and the tan inside as I remember the original.

before I toss this out because it has cracked in several spots and hardened, this is what the late FI bus right side heater hose looked like. The part number on it is 211-261-236B . It has the VW Audi logo on it. Looks like it was once a flexible round plastic accordion hose, that was 60 - 62 mm wide, and about 280 mm long or roughly 11". Right now I am using the cardboard ones but someone could get the silicone high temp ducting, spray it black and use that if they wanted something more original. Also there are some manufacturers who make 60mm aluminum interior treated tubing for heat. Example https://heatport.com/products/duct-hose-black-o-60mm or go here for other options:
