57 Single cab
later bus trans with RGB's and DP Enginge
Concept 1 Nose Cone Conversion Kit
I didnt do the conversion. I drove the SC and all 4 forward gears work great but reverse is hard to find but I find it here and there.
I decided to check the shifter stop plate and this is what I saw.
Would this cause no reverse.?
Where can I get a plate?
I know there interchangeable from bug to bus. But a 57 is old. Will any work for my SC?

That's a common place for those to break. Pretty much one size fits all as far as replacement. And remember the longer/bent tab goes on the right side pointing
up. |

| Replacing the plate would be a good place to start. According to WW they are all the same. http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=211711149 |

I don't know if that would cause no reverse at all but that would definitely mess stuff up. I've had things not work right just from wear, let alone a broken plate.
Your plate has some clear wear too, along that same reverse lockout piece that is sticking up. |

I do have reverse (sometimes) its hard to find. I also don't have a front bushing.
Can I replace the bushing without removing the transmission? |

The bushing may be causing more problems than the crack. And, yes, you can replace the front bushing w/o removing the engine. The front section is removable from the long shift rod.
FWIW Counselors/Therapists call what you did there "Door-Knobbing". It is where you talk about one problem for a while and then as you are leaving, with your hand on the door knob, you drop the bomb. Shoulda mentioned that one first! |

Neither is the front one when you try to uncouple the front rod from the rear with that frozen collar that you will probably have to cut off. |

Going to get all the bushings and collar if I have to cut it out.

Should the shifter be so in an angle like that? its on 1st gear in this picture. It has the concept 1 nose cone.
But I have reverse now. I installed a new bushing and clip plus the center shift rod coupler. I had to use the red urethane coupler. (for now) will get the WW coupler soon.
Coupler
Bushing & Clip
now to do the center pin |
