I just got my fasty 3 days ago, I drove it from La to San Jose and I put in over 8 quarts of oil. It's as if it's using oil as an alternative for gas. It has a 1600 dual carbed motor. What can I do to fix the problem? |

If you are using 8qts of oil then you should probably work on that instead of buying bolt on stuff. Start checking stuff like main seal or valve cover gaskets. How is the sump plate gaskets? Chech all around the pump area also. Give it a good wash first to halp locate leaks. Good luck. |

Keep in mind that "Fasty" refers to the body style, not the performance.
If you're really burning that much oil and not leaking then your rings or cylinder walls are gone (or you've holed a piston, but you would probably notice that). You can do a compression test to verify.
There's really nothing you can do before the rebuild. Well, you could quit putting oil in it, but that's not a very good plan.
Order your rebuild kit, get out your Bentley book, and tear into it. These are really pretty fun little engines to work on. |

Another thing to check. The oil filler tube is metal, but the top 3 to 4 inches is rubber hose where it attaches to the oil cap. If that rubber tears it is amazing how much oil finds its way up that tube and out, then down the outside of the tube to the bottom of the engine. I thought my pan was leaking but turned out to be the torn hose. |
