Ok I am gonna get everyone caught up w/ an insane amount of pix right now. I bought the bus wanted to make it faster. I do VR swaps like crazy so figured wth! BVR= BeaVeR or Bus VR. The bus is brown and a beaver is fitting!!! Its busted so... BUSTDBVR is my europlate and this is my build! Crack a beer and enjoy the pix! WARNING PIC HEAVY!!!!!! Didnt get into all the odds and ends just took all the pix of the build.
Donor
Butt, Butt, Butt smh They will be coming off and be soldered back up!
This is what I am left w/ after sifting and weeding out the cancer in that harness! Ready for friction tape!
1st step AquaKlean!
RustBlast!
And the finished product RustSeal!
Also had to grind down my shaft to due its monstrosity length.
Then BAM!!!! Sitting in Ivans house when I get the call that the plate has been shipped and it will arrive in a few days. Checking the tracking as everyday passed. Finally it came to my job!!! And thats when I started to get the VR into the bus for the mock up!!!
And VOILA!!!! 2 times a charm!
Couldnt bring myself to do the welds!
Finished product!
Im getting the engine ready to sandblast, paint and refresh!!! |

| this is fantastic. I have done this into a few vanagons but they were watercooled so cooling was never a problem. you will love the power you get when its completed. |

Stop right there!
Omit the mid trans mount entirely.
Many of us that have converted found that this mid mount creates a vibration issue. I deleted mine after a samba member suggested it and everything worked out great. |

| Wow! Great thread! the rust is very similar to mine bus! It can be a twin resto! I will stick to the original 2L FI engine. How do you like that anti rust stuff? |

Yeah I am thinking about doing away w/it because I think I am going to raise the engine and trans so I can go lower in the rear.

Rust has become apart of me everyday I work on her. It gets everywhere! It took about 5hrs to do the anti rust paint in the rear, it was step by step but I am happy w/it. Its supposed to be the equivalent to POR-15.

Nice fab work. I am glad to see some other people getting creative with the motor options. What are your plans for the front beam? Why did you need to shorten the shaft into the pilot bearing? I wonder with my set up will require that? Great job!

Thanks man! I was gonna shorten it 4inches throw some adjusters and side plates on it to fab my own beam. The shaft was tooo long to go into the bearing so it needed to be grinded down in order to mate the engine and trans. Its coming along even w/ a 2yr old and a 6month old  |

Slapped in a battery to see what works and what doesnt.
Front parking lights
parts of the gauge cluster and radio
Rear pass. tail
I also picked up a whole deck from a Vanagon b/c the bus one is too small. Got it from westyseeker and gotta say he knows his vanagons! Great seller! Chose to cut out the whole deck to see if I can make it all flat and look like a stock deck! We will see, not sure yet.
Vanagon lid is white, Bus is gray.
Whole deck I cut out!

Its a slow build but I am def going to get on it b/c I would like it done for the spring. A lot of suspension stuff needs to be done and motor work. |

I love those VR6 motors, and would love having one in my bay.
Just like the type4 engine - they like to run HOT.
With the correct exhaust that VR6 sounds like heaven.
If they can push those Rialta's around - it should have no problem with a bay!

Gonna slap a borla on it. I can't wait to turn the key and hit the gas! Keeping it cool is def gonna be an issue. |

Especially if you put the radiator in the engine compartment the way some folks keep insisting on doing. It *can* work but it's a lot of effort to do it and not have the fans running all the time... |

Has the cooling been ample w/ running the rad under the fan in the green monster?your build is insane! What did you waste $500 on? Did you end up using the a3 rad or the dodge one? |
