I was mocking up my pedal cluster today to mark where I was going to make the dimple in the floor for the tangs on the bottom of the clutch and brake pedals and come to find out there is about an 1/8 inch of clearance underneath. The pan is a 65 and the original cluster was garbage so I purchased a used unit off of the classifieds for an early 60’s chassis. I built a steel perimeter and used 16ga for the floors lying on top of the tunnel lip. The new cluster is slightly different in that it has the grease fitting but the clutch hook spacing is the same.
The pedal stop contacts both tangs as it should and there is no chance that the tangs will contact the floor as it sits now. Should I still dimple the floor underneath or run with it the way it sits. Thanks for any input you might have.
Also I have to get around to writing up a build thread, just need to find the time.

It clears... why dimple it?
I hit the tangs on mine with a grinder to make them clear the floor. |
