"The original idea for the T1 van or Volkswagen Type 2 came from the Dutch Volkswagen importer Ben Pon, who drew the first sketches of the van in 1947."
Ben Pon lived and worked in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. There is still a lot of Volkswagen history out here and that's why Amersfoort is the perfect location to bring, as many as possible, Barndoor busses together!

Participating vehicles:
- VW Barndoor Buses until 03/1955 on the main square!
- Volkswagen Type 2 / Splitbuses up to 1967
- Volkswagen Beetles, KdF-Wagen up to 1957
- Type 128 and 166 VW Schwimmwagen
- Type 82 VW Kübelwagen 1940 - 1945
- Coachbuilt bodies on a VW chassis up to 1967
- Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Type 14 up to 1959
- Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Type 34 up to 1969
- Volkswagen Type 3 1500 + 1500S up to 1965

Good news. When I first read the topic said 2013 which would have been way to short in time. Great it obviously is '14 which gives people some time to fix up their Barns and check on holidays from work, wife and everything else... :wink:

Can we get the Dutch Plattenwagen that was at the last Ben Pon event in 97 to attend? 8)

JD get your repo prototype there. I know it's not to everyone's taste but it would be great for the year lineups and for talking points.

If we finish the work on on the Bullikartei Plattenwagen from 1946

Awesome to read all the positive reactions! It's def going to be a cool show!
Something I had in mind for a long time now and it's finally going to happen!

We found the perfect location at the Wagenwerkplaats in Amersfoort for the '1st European Barndoor Gathering & Vintage VW Show'.
This is the place where importer 'Pon Automobielhandel BV' unloaded the trains with cars, that arrived from the VW factory in Germany, for further distribution.
Here you see and old picture of the location back in 1955. This is where it is going to take place!
