Way to go Maestro!
Johnny, your name came up constantly.
Everyone talked about how you were the impetus for all this.
The Europeans were encouraged to beat the OCTO Barndoor Mafia reunion!
You were missed.

Johnny Pickénez! Air Vin told me he was going to pick you and the misses up and head straight over to Amsterdam's Red Light District  By the images, it looked like a great time and it seems my dad, Chuck, Comrade Doug and the other Californian's brought the good weather out there. Unfortunetly I didn't have the means this time around ........ again! Though I do plan on coming out sometime soon.

I never organized the gathering as a competition, but rather a gathering for enthusiasts, both owners & admirers, to congregate at one location for a spectacular view and for sharing purposes. Whether it be knowledge, parts or advise…… everyone wins. The plus side of all this is to know there are so many admirers of these old heeps of metal, and as well the bond these buses have created in such a short period of time. I respect all those guys who drove their buses from great distances. The parking scenario looks really good. Hats off to the Maestro and his posse for putting this together, and major props to the guys who drove there!

How was the swap/traders area?? Parts galore??

I was there and all I can say it was amazing, a blast, awesome... no words to describe.

My first big show ever, including a 3270km road trip with our split bus from Barcelona, a cool Convoy with the UK guys from the ferry to the Evam's Classic BBQ, lots of cool guys that I always saw and read on the forums...

A pleasure to chat with j.pickens, his wife and friend (sorry forgot your name), Serge aka Dj Pierre, Carter Bros aka Cool Flo guys, Maurice from Kieft and Klok, Ned from Hayburner, Florian aka BD from Swamp guy and his Airmapp crew, etc etc...

And of course Niels Airmighty who made it possible, he is the man!

Dear Niels,

we want to thank you so much for this superb megaevent! We enjoyed our stay in Amersfoort on that excellent location so much and everything was just perfect including the weather!
Really incredible cars and participants.
Also the Disco night was unique and we all had a superb evening.

We truly hope that you will redo such a great gathering somewhen in the coming years ... in four years maybe ... we´ll be there again for sure.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

thank you everyone for the great photos. I wish I could have had my 1951 10 window at the gathering but I am at the wrong side of the ocean.

Thanks to all who have posted pictures from the show.

Looks like everyone had a good time and as Jonny said, these old buses have a way of uniting people from around the world.

Fantastic effort by so many people to get there, just wish I could have made it out there.

Also pleasing to see a few Cunado wear super models in attendance, no doubt another fact finding mission documented ...looking forward to Comrades photo's.

Think I'm not ?

This all comes down to training I'm sure.

The Comrade has probably undergone rigorous training while in camp Cunado to destroy any incriminating evidence. Once the material has been vetted it'll be released into the public domain.

Security through the borders of Europe can also be a nightmare though I'm sure through the web of contacts via Cunado wear and the BDM it wouldn't be a problem...

Connected...think he's not ?

What an EPIC weekend it was!!!
We would like to say THANKS to everyone who attended the show, sponsors, traders, volunteers & visitors from all around the globe!
YOU made it happen, YOU brought the atmosphere and it was YOU who made the Ben Pon Show a success!!

It was amazing, so much has happened and we're still smiling from ear to ear!
So cool to see all those Vintage VWs in Amersfoort! THANKS!

Facts and numbers will follow, but we do know we counted 76 Barndoor buses on the main square on Saturday, a new world record!

We hope to see you back in April 2018!

I collected all the pictures and movies I could find so far on a page on our website.
Check them out right here: http://www.benpon.nl/index.php/show-reports
