I thought for sure there was a sticky for this, but I guess I have to create a new thread after all. Sorry. :oops:

There is a Bug over here in the PNW going for just $2,000. It's a '71 and the seller says that all it needs is carb rebuild or new carb. JBugs has a new carb kit for single ports for just $200. By looking at it, it also needs both bumpers. Another $300 there for both bumpers. Doesn't sound too bad to me.

I aim to take my VW guru out to look at it whenever I can get both he and the seller free at the same time.

Sounds good to me to have someone familiar with them look at it prior to buying it. Also it would help to post pictures with this question :wink:

Don't buy a non running car based on what the seller says it needs..sure enough,when ya get it running and it has a rod knock he'll say it didn't knock when he had it running..

on the '72,whine about the headliner and the seats being poorly done,ask him where the wheels that were on the car went and offer 1800 bucks.

Check out the yellow one...a little interior sprucing up, a little paint on the wheels and there you go.

Thanks, all! Will do! My guru also told me to ask where the tune ups have been done, and what weight of oil has been used and report back to him.

Look at both of them... Then look at several more of them, pick the best.
Oh ya drive them also.
