I've heard that you can put a Porsche 901-902 tranny in a VW (with some modification).
I've also heard of the Gene Berg 5 speed tranny conversion for a vw gearbox.
But i'm wondering if there's anyway to make a porsche 5 speed tranny into a 6 speed? or if there are any 6 speed trannys that'll fit in a Karmann Ghia?
..Last question. Will a somewhat modified Type 1 or Type 4 engine be able to power a ghia in 6th gear? |

Porsche G50 was available as a 6 speed. Major mods need to be done for it to fit. |

That 6 speed G50 will make it's own major mod to your wallet! |

My 915 5 speed will take my 911 to about 130 mph in 5th with the motor at 6500 rpm. How much faster do you want to go? |

There are guys running 300CHP with no issues. Get towards 350CHP and care is needed in your driving methods. This is later SC and Carrera 915's, not sure about earlier ones. |

You want a g-50 5 speed with a short bell or a 930 4 speed. They will take 400RWHP The 6 speed g-50 is way to long. And why do you want to row? 915 is not worth the trouble IN my opinion Lots of people like them? Its work so you don't want to do it twice and you don't save money wishing you did it different. |
