It should be in the Kit Car forum.

I was going to move it but I know how you split guys love kit cars. And the Kit car guys only know how to cut up Type 1s ;)

It's not a kit. These were all built from scale plans out of sheets of urethane foam that was then fiberglassed over, and they're all built on shortened Splitbus chassis. RQ Riley is the company that sold the plans. You can still buy them actually. Or download them for free here:

It could be but since it's built from a Bus and that is unique for a kit, it's fine.

Greg's afraid I'll want one.

Hey, we could download the plans and cut up that silver and blue bus. :D

Did you end up going back for it? I wouldn't mind knowing what kind of bus it's based on, if that can be determined. And I take back what I said before, it'd probably be worth extricating that thing just to bring it out to shows and annoy the purists. The link I posted for the plans doesn't work, this one does (click on the picture of the boonie bug to download)

Technically, I suppose Boonie Buggies are a kit. But not in a traditional kit car sense where you buy a body and put it on a vw frame. This kit required you to build it out of sheets of foam and then glass over it. That's what I remember from the articles I read from way back.

Yeah, I really am old enough to remember when this came out and how much I wanted one. But, I also wanted a "Brubaker Box", which was a conventional kit car. They didn't make many of those either. I had the picture hanging in my room in the Air Force, right next to Dee De Lynn and Nixon on the shitter. Got chewed out and had to remove the other two, but the Box got to stay.
