got the steering wheel off. switching it out for a 69 wheel. deciding on shortening the wiper switch or putting a bend in it. heres the one from the 69. kind of crappy but im doing a slight restore on it. there were some cracks and a couple pretty big chunks taken out. let me know what you think about the wiper switch! thanks some crappy pics will get some better ones

On my 72, my wiper switch handle was broken off. I didn't want to buy a new one, so I drilled a hole in what was left of the handle and put a long 2 or 3mm bolt in it with a piston schrader valve cap. I think I would shorten up a stock one, as well. I don't think it needs to be so obtrusive for how infrequently the wipers get used. |

so i know this comes up all the time. im planning on putting a 69 steering wheel into the 72. i already have the wheel im putting in, and already took the other out. i know the two spoke wheel is going to hit the wiper stalk. so my plan is to shorten the wiper stalk. can someone explain how to remove the wiper assembly? as in the stalk. whether the wiper and turn signal need to come out together. im going to take it out, cut a bit off of it, and put it back in. im not too sure exactly how to do this and dont want to take apart things i dont need to. any help is appreciated! thank you |

Remove the 4 slot head screws at each corner, and pull the wiper/turn signal arm assemblies out. Simple. |

DUBs, the sending unit you have in that early tank is a purely mechanical one. I don't know of a way to adapt your speedo's gauge to it But if you have the sender from your '72's tank, it is a direct replacement- the bolt holes all match IIRC. The '72's tank is the same depth as the early one, so that the gauge will read accurate, since it is the matched set (gauge and sender).
Use a new rubber gasket to seal off the sender to the tank, and try to find new O-rings under the head of each of the 5 fastening screws so that you don't get fuel leaks (and smell) when the tank is full. When you go to tighten those O-rings, first smear then with Vaseline, and tighten them very gently- you only want to compress the rubber, not squash it out of shape under the screw heads/plastic collar washers. |

ive been getting quite a bit done on the "not so hoodride" hood ride project. motor been running great. still only have 25 miles on it. got alot of wiring fixed and done right. waiting on some custom bullet style turn signals for the rear. getting my diamond plate vinyl for my running boards. and soon i will be getting a full bamboo interior. headliner, and door/quarter panels. fixed my steering problem. got both bumpers up... OH YEAH! its registered! lol went to the DMV few weeks ago to see what i needed to get it registered. no questions asked it was registered within minutes. got $400 back fees waived so i payed $300 for registration and plates. got some dynamat put in, still not done. made some custom window cranks
and shift knob
the whole dashboard is stickered up. just waiting on interior to finish some things up. |

Hey! The car is coming along pretty sweet!
Can you post or PM me a couple of close up pics of how your front bumper mounts, and how you made the holes in the front apron? Or did the PO do that? If you don't mind, please take a pic inside the frunk for me! I have a set of OG early bumpers for my car, too, just weighing options for mounting the front...
Thanks_ eric
EDIT: It looks like the PO swapped on a pre-68 front apron, or swapped a pre-67 body onto your pan. I can't really tell from here... |

yes the apron is swapped out for an early apron, along with the fenders, bonnet, decklid, and rear apron also. i will take a picture. the apron is the only thing keeping you from installing your bumpers. |

Sorry I never got back to you. I'd have taken a pic but the car was sold this Spring.
Your car's coming along nicely. I love the skateboard wheel window cranks. |

Thanks for the reply. Took it on a little drive today, enough for it to get hot. Stopped at the store, then it wouldn't start back up. Kind of odd. The started was turning over the engine wouldn't start up. I wonder if it doesn't like starting after its warm. Could I have flooded it with gas going up a hill in 3 and 4th gear with not alot of speed?
It finally started after 5 mins. I think Im gonna try to run my car without the decklid on the same route and see what happens. |

you can see my external turn signals mounted on my bumper. and my peep mirror on my door :P
should i put these plates on my car or is it too much of a hassle getting them through the dmv and all. they were off of the other bug i have that will never be finished.
