Ok, so I do not know if this is related or not, but I went to get a copy of my key made today since the only one I had was the original from 1964. Then when I went to unlock the driver's door something super weird and very annoying happened. The button is now stuck in and the will not open the door. When you turn the key to flat it is pushed in like if you had depressed the button, when you turn it as if to unlock or lock it then the button will come out to it's regular position, but you cannot remove the key (obviously because it is turned), but you cannot turn it straight again unless you again depress the button.
WTH is going on?
Anyone have any ideas? |

| Never mind. I unscrewed the handle and screwed it back on and it works now. |

| I hate stuff like that. I don't know why it would do that. There is a sticky on door handles though, and it goes into great detail with good pictures. You may need to pull the handle and disassemble if you can't wiggle or shake it loose. It would be a good time to clean and lube the assembly, though. |

| I had to replace my door handle on my 1964 VW. I was able to position door handle but when I insert new key, it turns left and right and right. When I go to pull key out it get stuck. any tips or suggestions would be helpful. |
