hey guys, thinking about putting in a pertronix svda in my 79 westy carb conversion.

Aircooled suggests disassembly and lube of the new units but i do not see any documentation in their manuals etc about where the lube points and what grease or oil to use would be.

Does anyone have any write ups or images etc of how to properly disassemble and lube one of these dizzys?

Thanks.

You should read up on the Pertronix distributor. I tried that route 15'ish years ago, had multiple problems right out of the box and failures started in the dozens of miles. I ended up going back to my old distributor.

I’m sure this thread will turn into points vs pertronix… blah blah blah, but to answer your question…. Simply lube the vacuum advance plate and the springs and you’ll be fine. Ive seen a few Pertronix distributors and was impressed with their steady timing.

any thoughts on staying with pure mechanical whether points or electronic or do i really need a svda for this type 4 2.0 motor with dual weber icts? right now it is just a 009 clone pure mechanical

So air-cooled says you should take apart a brand new distributor and lubricant it?

Talk about confidence in what you sell.

Buy a rebuilt German Bosch svda from Bill and move on to something else.
